More than 160 Temecula Valley-area physicians have joined a coalition against the proposed Liberty Quarry. This video contains interviews with seven of them who detail the very real and very serious health risks that building a quarry would bring to the several hundred thousand residents of this area. Crystalline silica, asbestos, heavy metals and other toxic substances released by the daily blasting of rock, would travel through the air and into residents' lungs, causing deadly silicosis, mesothelioma (an aggressive form of lung cancer), diabetes, neurological disorders, genetic changes and other serious illnesses. These doctors are gravely concerned that this possible quarry would seriously affect the health of their most vulnerable patients (such as those with asthma and other issues) as well as that of healthy people.
